Fairlawns
It’s not often we get to design a kitchen around such an extraordinary architectural feature as this one.
Here a 4-metre-high garden wall became the backdrop to one of our more classic kitchens. Simplicity in design was the answer here, with minimal cabinetry abutting the highly textured brick wall, leaving lots of room for a generous sized island.
This very modern style house is wrapped around the ubiquitous wall, with living quarters one side and kitchen the other. The connecting door is positioned where the original garden gate was, whilst the vista stretches out across the beautiful Victorian garden with its exotic peacocks and formal planting schemes. What a wonderful setting for a kitchen and dining space.
Style Board: The kitchen cabinetry is painted in Little Greene’s Portland Stone softly complimenting the mortar around the bricks. The Island is crafted in Walnut wood with an oil wax finish. All worktops are a granite called Black Pearl. The floor material is polished concrete giving off a more industrial and modern vibe, connecting with the brickwork in an honest manner.
